At The Carr Fenton Foundation, therapy isn’t an add-on – it’s part of everything we do. Our therapy team works collaboratively across education, care and residential settings to embed therapeutic approaches into daily practice. This integrated model ensures that support is consistent, flexible, and responsive to each individual’s needs.
By working hand-in-hand with teaching and care staff, therapists help children and young people to learn, communicate and thrive in environments where therapy happens naturally – in classrooms, residences and community settings. We want to make sure every learner receives the right support, at the right time, in the right way.

We provide a comprehensive range of therapies, delivered by qualified professionals who specialise in supporting children and young people with communication needs, learning disabilities, and complex profiles.
Speech and Language Therapy
Developing communication, language comprehension and expressive skills, tailored for both spoken and sign-language users.
Occupational Therapy
Supporting daily living skills, sensory regulation, coordination and independence through practical, meaningful activities.
Audiology
Monitoring and supporting hearing needs across the Foundation, including assessment, equipment provision and maintenance.
Counselling
Offering emotional and therapeutic support, with trauma-informed approaches to promote mental health and resilience.
Play Therapy
Using play to help children express themselves, process experiences and develop coping strategies in a safe, creative space.
Physical Therapy
Promoting movement, strength and independence through targeted interventions, working closely with external physiotherapists.
Referrals are made following individual assessments and multidisciplinary team discussions, ensuring every decision is tailored to the learner.
This holistic approach helps us understand each individual’s unique needs and provide the right support to help them achieve their goals.
We developed our Integrated Therapy in Education Model to identify and support the six key areas that influence a child or young person’s ability to thrive.
Sensory Processing
Do they have sensory needs that affect engagement in lessons or daily life? We help identify triggers and develop personalised strategies to support regulation and focus.
Access & Opportunity
Do they have the tools or adaptations they need to participate fully? From physical supports to interpreters, scribes or visual aids, we remove barriers to access.
Secure Attachments
Do they feel safe, connected and valued? We help build environments that nurture trust, positive relationships and self-esteem.
Physical & Self-Management
Do they have the physical and organisational skills to manage their routines? We support coordination, independence and confidence in daily tasks.
Communication
Do they have an effective way to connect with others? We develop expressive and receptive communication – spoken, signed or visual – to empower interaction and understanding.
Emotional Regulation
Can they manage their emotions and ask for help when needed? We provide therapeutic tools to build resilience, calm and self-advocacy.

By assessing the person in six key areas, we can provide targeted input across their everyday environments, whether in school, college, nursery or residence.
